New Delhi | Mobile users may experience a great commotion in the coming days. According to a report published in the “Economy” magazine, telecommunications companies can increase mobile rates by 25-30 percent.
Industry officials and experts believe that Vodafone-IDEA and Bharti Airtel have to pay the huge unpaid amount of adjusted gross income (AGR). In that case, tariffs should be increased to improve their economic position.
Total subscriber spending on telecommunications services in India is much lower than in other countries. Experts also believe that Vodafone-Idea has great difficulties.
The company is also afraid to stop working. If such a situation occurs, only Bharti Airtel and Reliance Jio can remain in the telecommunications sector.
At the end of 2019, telecommunications operators increased their prepaid rate from 14 to 33 percent. This was the first rate increase in 3 years.
Now the eyes of the telecommunications companies are also in the government, whether or not it is exempt from the amount owed. If there is no relief, the increase in tariffs will be the only solution.
Companies like Vodafone Idea are considering ways to open the door of the Supreme Court to reduce arrears. After entering Jio, the number of mobile Internet users increased greatly. Experts believe that even if there is an increase, users will not hesitate to spend more money.
